After the romantic comedies Love Made to Order, Superwoman, and Casting for Love, director Eva Toulová comes with a story in which the main role is not love, but power and money. The initial impetus for the creation of Mole's world was the real-life case of Josef Roušal, the owner of a Prague amusement park. For years, he has been rejecting the verdicts of state authorities that he operates his business without the necessary permits and infrastructure.

There is something lurking beneath the surface in this mockumentary that rips the lid off one of the great urban myths of our time.

Players working as a team complete a series of difficult physical and psychological tests, each worth a set amount of money. One of the players, however, is a "Mole" or saboteur, whose goal is to foil the efforts of the other players without revealing his or her identity. At the end of each episode, the group is given a quiz on The Mole's identity. The player who knows the least information about The Mole is then immediately sent home. In the final episode, The Mole is revealed and the one remaining player wins the jackpot, up to $1,000,000.

When an important cache of seized heroin is stolen from a regional customs depot and two officers left dead, it becomes clear that there is a mole within the customs services. Commandant Sandra Longo, of internal affairs, is dispatched from Paris to unmask the traitor.

Writer/director Paul Maunder's second drama after his award-winning Going Up North for a While is a portrait of a woman's mental health crisis. In part one Julie (Denise Maunder) is haunted by her birth mother's breakdown. Her inner monologue narrates events; Julie hopes marriage and a job will "cure" her, and falls pregnant. After a traumatic delivery, she suffers an acute episode and is admitted into care. Part two takes place in a psychiatric hospital where drugs, electroconvulsive therapy and art therapy were standard treatments at the time. Maunder undertook research at Auckland's Kingseat psychiatric hospital.
